Information
on how to configure Microsoft Outlook 2000/XP
Once Outlook is open, up above in the menu, look for 'Tools.'
Pull it down and go to 'Accounts...'
Select it. A new window will
open that has three tabs on the upper section: 'All,' 'Mail,'
and ‘Directory Services.' Select 'Mail.'
On the right side of this
window, you'll see several buttons. Select 'Add.' When you press this button, two options appear: 'Mail'
and 'Directory Service...' Select 'Mail.'
From here on, Internet Connection Wizard will lead
you to complete your email configurations. First Step:
Your Name: i.e., John Smith press Next> Second Step:
Internet E-mail Address: i.e., yourname@hartnet.org press Next> Third Step:
E-mail Server Names My incoming mail server is a: POP3 server Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server:
mailboxes.yourdomain.name (if using TrinfoCafe Service, use,
mailboxes.hartnet.org) Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: smtp.yourdomain.name
(if using TrinfoCafe Service, smtp.hartnet.org)
Fourth Step:
Internet Mail Logon Account name: your full email address (i.e.,
yourname@hartnet.org) Password: ****** (given to you by Trinfocafe Staff.
Please write this password down in a safe location. The password that
you type will NOT appear as you are typing it, it will instead appear as
* marks. (i.e. Password: Trinfo becomes Password: ******) Leave 'Log on using Secure Password Authentication,
SPA' unchecked
Fifth Step:
Internet Connection Wizard Select the type of Internet connection you have: In
most people’s case it will be to select, phone line (modem), if
you are an advanced user and you know you do not use a modem to retrieve
your mail, check either, LAN, or I'll establish my
Internet connection manually. Sixth Step:
press 'Finish.'
