Trinfo.Café
began recycling and distributing refurbished computers in 2001.
To date, the program has donated over 120 computers to neighborhood
families. Donations come from a variety of institutions and residents,
with the overwhelming number coming from the College itself.
A completely
volunteer operation, the Recycling Center relies exclusively on
the teens participating in Trinfo.Café’s Computer
Apprenticeship Program. Along with supervision from Trinity College
student teaching assistants and Trinfo.Cafe’s Neighborhood
Field Service Technician, the apprentices spend two hours weekly
inventorying and refurbishing computers. They also assist with
distributing and educating recipients on how to properly connect
the systems.
